"I would like for you to go to Forks. We need a good willing spy. Someone who'll guard his mind well. Someone who isn't a vampire. Who won't automatically scream 'watch out. Stranger' to those Cullens and the rest of their family right off the bat." Aro had told him, "The one called Edward is the only one you need to watch out for. Guard your thoughts around him. I've trained you well enough to avoid thinking about any of us. Remember. We except to hear updates from you in person via either your phone or your computer. Do you understand?" Simba had had no choice but to agree. He was to spend time stationed in Forks and attending school as a sophomore. He was twenty one, but he could pass for sophomore, he such a baby face.
'Get close to them. Get them to trust you. Get intelligence on them. Find their weaknesses.' Those words echoed in his head on the flight over from Italy to Washington. The shifter had sat there, hating himself for doing this but knowing he had no choice. His brothers were at stake. He couldn't let them die. They were everything to him. The plane touched down on the ground and Simba took a look at the address written on the card he'd been given. We have a house set up for you with furnishings. The movers will arrive sometime after you. It's a foreclosure so you'll have a lot of cleaning and dusting to do. it read. He'd been placed close enough to the school to walk if he wanted, but also closer to the Cullen household than any other house in the neighborhood.
He'd let the movers bring in the things, a bed, a couch, a nice television and a few other things to make the house a home. Some people might've said he was free, but Simba knew that he just had a longer chain. All Aro had to do was yank on it and he'd be dragged straight back to Voltera, kicking and struggling. He wasn't free. Not by a long shot.
Looking at his computer he saw the date. School would start up tomorrow. He sighed and lay down on his bed and just went to sleep.
___________
Early the next morning, Simba joined the other students in the school and he wore a simple outfit with a necklace he enjoyed and just headed in, looking around and trying to find his first class. He hadn't been in a traditional school since the days boys sat on one side and girls on the other and everyone brought their books strapped together by a leather belt and carried tiny personal chalkboards and chalk. So different! Part of him was looking forward to this. Maybe he could join a dance club or something! Why not try to make the best of a bad situation? He approached a student at random and tapped them on the shoulder.
"Excuse me." he said, his Egyptian accent thick, even after being away from Egypt for twenty years. "Do know whether or not this school has a dance club?"
